I bought my first Contour, a 1999 LX at the state vehicle auction last weekend. It has 100,000 miles on it. In the past I have had two Escorts with the 1.9 Ltr. engine and have been able to run them up to 200,000 miles or more without too much expense. I drive about 700 miles a week. How many miles are on some of your 2.0 Ltr. Contours and what kind of problems should I expect? Thanks rd

Change your timing belt at regular intervals and she should go forever.

Yep^ Just stay on top of the maintenance and you should be okay. My LX has 80,000 miles and I hope to get at least another 80,000 out of it. The one thing I have going for me is that I have put all the miles on it.

I got mine at 108,000, and didn't think it'd last long due to it's history (Boston cah). Still kickin strong at 147,000

78 Views and only four responses. Does that mean none of you drive Contours with 2.0 Ltrs or has no one ever gotten one to go 200,000 miles. rd

Welcome. My kid's first tour was a 4 cyl. When she sold it it had 97,000 miles on it. Ran great too. As previously stated, keep up on the maintenance and it should run a good long time for you.
