Bare with me the computer I'm using is too slow too keep searching for previous posts. I did find a couple that were exactly like what i'm having probs with. ok..... massive slipping from stand still start, irrratic shifts ( not sure what gear it wants to be in, bassically it seems like the trans main line pressure is all over the place. also the o/d light flashes. speedo works fine. from what i read it seems like vss, but, is it the two wire sensor behind the drivers wheel or the sensor below the exh. manifold right at the bellhousing? i checked the resistance of the one behind the drivers wheel and it was 170 ohms, and the vss spec is like 190-250. so...... what do i do? sorry, 1998 Mystique 2L Auto

ok, cleaned all sensor connector pins and topped off fluid, which was almost a quart low(damn women). Test drove for 45 min with no problems. 2 days later my sis calls crying saying she was slowing down off freeway exit and she heard a lot of grinding and the car died. auto trans are my worst subject to diagnose, but it kinda sounds like the torque converter? the only thing i can see grinding other then the stator coming apart would be the pump, or the planetary gerset which i highly doubt. if anyone has anyexperience with a problem like this please help.

Check the fluid level again. How is it? If fluid level is fine, what is the atx doing when you put it in gear?
