I have an opportunity to purchase a rebuilt V6 SHO Taurus engine complete with computer. This is from a long time friend who's life is speed. He tells me that the engine would "bolt in" to my Contour.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this or whether is ability to "bolt in" would not just apply to the motor mounts but also the drive train.

Almost positive it won't work. I thought the only Taurus engines that "bolted in" to our cars were ones that were like 98 and up.

Nothing is compatible with our cars.

Tranny, mounts, axles, harnesses, PCM, etc...

the major problem is that the SHO motor is too wide for the contour frame rails, making it a MAJOR structural deal to get it to even fit in there, even before you hook everything up.

It's all about balance.

You should buy it and put it in a Festiva though!

Build yourself a Shogun! I don't have any pics or the link, but I am sure somebody does. smile

Shoguns that I've seen have had a supercharged V6 in them, Very fast. I think Jay Leno,sp? has one with the V6.
Would be fun to stuff one in a Tour though smile

HAHAHHAH imagine the face of some rich ******* when you smoke his/her exotic in a sprayed shogun festiva!

on a side note, why do u guys talk about putting "slightly" more powerful engines in this car? why do all that work for an extra 20hp at the crank? talk about a 351W project, then u will raise eyebrows wink

i am offically a troll... so take my information and advice with a grain of salt.

220hp /200 ftlbs, that's about 35 ftlbs or the 3.2 @ 220/215. Tho the mighty Yamaha will NOT fit into the contour. As stated the SHOgun is the V6 Yamaha, not the 3.4L V8. IIRC no SHOguns were s/ced. Tho Jay Leno's has the bottle on it....
