I owned XM, until I bough Sirius. After having XM for almost exactly one year, I was tired of hearing the same music that I was hearing when I initially signed up. And that music to me, was not any big name bands. I have had Sirius for almost 2 years now and when I am not on my bike and in my car, I listen to it almost exclusivly.

I had XM and all they did was loop the same damm song all day. Made the switch to Sirius last november and love it. I never listen to FM anymore and hardly pop a cd in. Stern is also damm funny now that he is free to say what ever it is that he wants! I have it in my car and a set up in my work van.

My only major gripe with Sirius' music selection is the complete lack of a Freestyle music station. They have "The Strobe" but it's mostly disco and funk garbage (i hate that crap!!!)...freestyle tracks play like 1 out every 10 songs. Same goes for the 80's station...plenty of good music, but not enough freestyle.

They should have a station dedicated to just that type of music. There's enough artists - Judy Torres, Lisette Melendez, TKA, Stevie B, Johnny O, Cynthia, Shannon, Expose', Cover Girls....the list goes on and on, and there's still new music coming out! I wonder is there's somewhere i can voice my complaint...not like it would make a difference.

Or maybe it's just a brooklyn/NYC thing...crap that's the only reason i listen to the regular radio. Most lunch hours, and sunday nights KTU in NYC plays all freestyle. I feel like i'm on my stoop with my boombox again.

I live in SI...i'm from brooklyn.

The most popular station in NYC PERIOD!

And I'm actually disappointed in joe cozzi(i dunno how to spell it) for not playing more of the good stuff. He knows wussup.

EDIT: I just found this in my Gmail

sweet!

EDIT EDIT: hmm...well, you get a free receiver for signing up for an extra 6 months @ $6.99 a month. A cheap model, but fine for my house.

Let me guess, Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst?

I'm just messin with ya, but IMO, KTU has a very specific demographic. I listen to it sometimes when I am down in the city, but when people call in it always amuses me how much they typify the stereotype that I view of KTU listeners.

Having had both Sirius and XM my take is:

XM
-Better classic rock stations
-MLB
-MUCH better stand-up station
-Better SQ

Sirus
-Better hip-hop
-NHL
-Less drop signal drops in the NE
-You can get a lifetime subscription

Greenpoint. If you don't know quite where that is, think Long Island City. They're right next to eachother.
