To those who've performed this mod.... How did it work out and what complementary mods (3.0, t-body, etc.) do you have on your motor? Thanks.

Hey guys... I am a cougar guy and I am wondering what you guys are talking about when you remove your secondaries??? What kind of performance gains and what kind of work has to be done. Thanks.

Ben, I believe they're removing the valves inside their intake manifolds that close/open up the secondary intake runners.

Ya that what there talking about, I did this to my 96 SE...opened them up as far as posible with the adjustment screw, I didn't like the effect...so I closed them up and just have the cracked slightly to keep the air moving thru so it doesn't get warm and stale...

Opening them with the adjustment screw is nothing like what they're talking about. They're talking about removing them entirely. Just a note, I have this done on a pretty basic SE w/3 liter swap and love it to death!

Well I think that it reacts a lil different with the 3l...just having them cracked didn't go over so well with me...seem to bawg down to much.

My 2.5 was the same with too much of a crack. It's an ATX so it bogs bad enough already and any additional torque loss is really noticable. If you want to know about what the effect is on your motor, try pinning (or tyeing) the secondaries open. Almost like removing them, but temporary and easy to do/undo.

The ATX's don't seem to like it much because you can't control what RPM you launch at. The MTX is only below the IMRC opening point for a split second when racing, even then only in first gear. I removed them on my 2.5 first BTW and they work quite the same on the 3 liter. Boosted motors start building boost sooner without them too...
