I looked around previous postings, and asside from a possible issue with my main wiring loom from the engine compartment fuse panel, I am not sure on this.
Basic symptoms seem to be when the car is warmed up, and running, no drivability issues, nothing out of the norm happening, I seem to smell melted plastic, and while not very bad, I smell it all the same. I can not pin point it for the life of me. I can't think of anything causing excessive electrical draw, but for those framiliar with my 1999 SE v6 ATX, it's been wrecked twice since october of last year by my wife. I put another front clip off a 1998 SVT contour, and when I was working on replacing the radiator support, I noticed the main loom looked slightly melted.
I checked it over, and nothing else seems bad, so I simply left it alone. I am running a single amp for a single subwoofer, so I don't think it is an issue of current draw from the amp. No wires, hoses, plastic is touching any hot surface such as the manifolds, etc.
I am at a loss to figure this out.
Second issue {please try not to harp on me about this} is I drive hard at times...not uncommon for me to run my SE up to 5,500-6K rpm, and on hard shifts, I have had belt squeal.
I figured this was just due to the car being under hard accelleration. The last couple times it has been damp out, any time I punch it, my charge indicator lamp has come on, or flickered on, until I let off the throttle.
Think a new belt is in order? BTW, I use only Motorcraft belts. The belt was changed out last spring, and does not have more than 18k on it. No cracking, or other noticable issues.
Thanks for the help.
