I have a 1996 2.0 contour atx, I get a strange ticking noise that comes out of the drivers side when it is cold and disappears when the car warms up, it only makes the noise though when driving. It is not an axle, because when I let the car warm up it will not make the noise. Has anyone else had this problem. There is no codes and the OD light is not flashing. I was just wondering if the TSS would cause this.

Not TSS. Probably vacuum leak from air filter housing or hose going from there to the IAC valve. Check to make sure it is seated tight.

Do you have plastic wheel covers. They make strange noises at times because the rim is flexing. When the brakes warm them up the noise changes or goes away.

Is this a ticking noise that's related to engine rpm's? i.e. faster ticking with higher revs? If so, I have it too... it happens like you said only when the engine's cold and warming up... have no idea what it is and am interested to hear what others have to say.

Could this cause other problems, as well as the noise. The car seems to bog down and then takes off when your cruising on the highway before it goes into OD, and it seems to slide into overdrive instead of a clean shift.
