Well today is the start of my 5th week without seeing any news or newspapers. I have no idea what is going on in the world right now, nore do i care. The news was very depressing and sucked to learn all the bad things going on. I just stopped paying attention to the news. I have to tell you now all that matters is my family and what goes on at home. I feel so much better and way less stressed about things i have no control of. Im much happier and the world seems like a way nicer place. Call me what you want but living without worring about all the sh*t going on in the world makes life that much better.

Anyone else avoid the news at all cost?

Matt

It's hard to avoid news if you're on CEG because so many topics come up, especially in this forum.
I'm surprised you were able to avoid news 100%.

I hear a piece of news hear and there from random peoples, but at work we tend no to get into the news situations.I like positive news stories though. I dont mind hearing those, its just the negative that gets to me. Someone needs to make a POSITIVE NEWS Channel, i think i would turn into that. Anyone got a couple million to get started, i think it would be interesteing to only hear good and nice news stories, not just death, death, and death and possibly future deaths. To much negativity.

i don't avoid the news totally, but i don't care about it for the most part. I'm baffled as to why people buy newspapers, especially if they can watch it on tv for free...why they would want to i dunno, since 99% of the BS doesn't affect anyone anyway.

I'm a hardcore news junkie - I'm checking yahoo news pretty much constantly all day. I just like to be aware of what's going on in the world. My wife OTOH is just like you - doesn't read the paper, check the news online or watch on TV, and just doesn't care at all about what's happening so long as it doesn't affect her daily routine.

Me too! If it doesn't affect me, my family or friends directly, I don't care. I'm also one of those people that feels that what I do doesn't matter to the grand scheme of things. Like gas prices; what am I going to do to affect them? Pshhhh, it's a b!tch when the prices go up, but what are you gonna do? I'm a pretty worry free, non-stressed guy that has a LOT more good days than bad. Why let someone else's misfortune bring me down?

In America, we live in a bubble, hooray!

I can't believe that people actually feel this way. If people are referring to local news stations, that's one thing. But getting information on what's going on around the world should be a part of everyday life in my opinion.

edit: Perhaps I should be more specific, TV news stations are pretty much garbage the majority of the time since when they report on idiotic topics there's no way around it besides switching the station. Reading newspapers/online papers is a lot better since you can pick and choose what you want to read about.
