I have a 2000 SVT Contour and my dad has a 1996 Mystique GS (the one that is all loaded). It has V6, auto, leather, power everything, spoiler, etc.
It has 67,000. Will cost me between $2000 and $3000 when said and done.
Is it worth it? Will it hold up for another 50,000 miles?
It has a stalling issue now, is that serious? It is going into the shop this week. Thanks for your input.

Personally I would not buy it just on the fact it's an ATX.
With that a side.
What would be it's purpose? (commuter, project car, just to have, etc)

It would be for a daily driver since my commute is over 120 miles daily.
SVT only has 8000 miles on it and I would like to keep it nice.
My daily commuter now is a 1986 Lincoln Continental.
Do you think I could do better for 2000 - 3000?
Thanks,
Doug

No offense to you, but I don't get the need for another daily driver.. My SVT WAS my daily driver.. At one point, I was putting about 150 miles a day, when I was working pretty far away. I drove it hard for 4 years, and it never left me stranded, and it braved the winter 3 times w/o drama.
I could understand if the resale on our cars were actually worth something, but they aren't, so why try to keep off the miles at the expense of a 2nd car?

Maybe the fact that the car is rare... yes right now it's depreciated a lot, but think of in another 20 years (if it's still in mint condition). It might appreciate in value by then. We don't know... Also, if people love their cars so much they'll want to keep it for as long as possible - and the most likely way to do this is to not drive it so often.

Yeah, I'd pick up the Mystique for a daily driver. All it takes is some nice rocks or some shredded retread tire piece f$%#ing up your suspension to make you wish you weren't driving the SVT. The price sounds pretty good, too.

Whats wrong with him not wanting to put miles on his car maybe he wants to keep her in mint condition? Just because you had no care for putting 120 miles on your car everyday and drove it all the time doesn't mean that he should do the same, I have a beater for the winter and i love driving my SVT but i'll be damned if i have to drive it everywhere and risk other people damaging it ie:parking lot, traffic,etc.... BTW: I thought you sold your radio? Someone back out again. As for the stalling let the mechanic check it out and see whats wrong, probably minor, I'd say buy it

Well, might also want to tell people the fact that you have a Porsche even when you had the SVT.
