What other possible reasons could there be for having scored rotors ? This has been happening to my front left disc since I replaced the rotors + pads with Stazi's Ti pads about 15k km's ago.

What led me to notice it again was the squealing noise I'm getting when braking.

Braking performance seems fine, unless I've been missing out since replacing them.

Could improper installation of the pads cause this ?

Thanks.

Did that on mine from Stazi too. No biggie as everything is working fine. I did not have the squeeling, however.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

The Bendix Ti's are AGGRESSIVE pads, that's why they brake so well. The downside is some minor cosmetic scoring of the rotors in some instances due to rotor material hardness fluctuations and also pad material hardness fluctuations. The squealing should be addressed by either the shims or application of antisqueal "goop" to the back of the ads prior to installation (saomething you can also do after the initial install - just requires removing the pads applying the antisqueal and reinstalling them again).

4 days following the installation of the bendix parts, i've got squealing, scoring and significant brake dust on my left front. the right front is great.

per stazi's reply:

1. scoring - could care less as long it doesn't degrade performance or harm the disc

2. squealing - will try stazi's suggestions

3. brake dust - the wheel is entirely dark gray - no exaggeration. this seems a bit much. is this just something associated with new pads? can i expect this to eventually taper off?

i recall reading somewhere in this forum that people liked the bendix pads because they wore cleaner than others! even the right side is showing a little more dust than i had hoped - although nothing compared to the left.

btw - doing business with stazi was super-smooth. i got my stuff much sooner than i thought i would.

The intial break in is going to be creating more dust than usual as the parts mate to each other.

Brake dust will go down significantly.
