I was thinking of getting one. thers a 84 GN for sale buy my house. it looks like in mint condition, insie and out. first year of turbo and fuel injection, only 2,000 made(vary rare) its got 200hp and 300ft/lb torque. and 42,000 miles. all black. i always wanted one and was thinking of trading in the contour for it. anyone ever had one? I know there fast as hell, but has anyone owned one for a long time any seroius problems with the turbo for that specific car?

I owned one for about 3 months before she got stolen so i couldn't tell you if i had any problems, I miss that car so much for the simple reason of being a GRAND NATIONAL and hearing that turbo open up and wipe the smiles off every GT i ran into.
The person to speak to is Roger ( The Striped SVT) I'm sure he'll be along any time soon, Just keep the post UP TOP

They are fun straight line cars, but I wouldn't go trading off an SVT for one. They are quick (and even fast! - later models) in a straight line, but handling sucks and braking is downright scary. 86 & 87 are by far the prime years to have. However any year can be made fast for enough money. (though so can any car) I wouldn't expect to switch cars and have it be a lot faster then the SVT off the bat. Personally I'd love to own a GN, but not if I could only own 1 car. It is on my short list of second cars though... I'm partial to Buicks...

i know its not the prime years of its existance being an 84, but im just drawn too the GN.yeah i know what you saying demon as far as the handling. the braking Should'nt be that bad, i had driven the regal from 85 and i though it was acceptable for it.ive had the contour for about 7 months now and have put around 2 grand in repairs and dont know if it'll last. the one big thing in the end would be if i have enough cash to get another car or truck. But first i need to talk to people that have them and actually drive it.

on the up-side, there are plenty of "go-fats" parts avail for those cars. my neighbor has one and hearing that turbo spool up is the coolest sound. he also has a camaro Z28 with a supercharger. the two cars look great next to each other.
