I'm looking at installing a NOS system in my 99 SVT. Nitrous oxide systems sells a dry kit for the small mustang v-8. I would like to run this kit in the 100 hp range. Will I need to bump fuel pressure for this?? My inspiration comes of course from the puff car. Does anyone know how they got it to engage only after 1st gear? manually?
thanks fellas
Ken

Man, if you plan on running 100 shot, you better have more than just an upgraded fuel pump...

Sorry, I can't help you with NOS (brand) stuff. What I can tell you is Puff (Ford NOS Car) started out using 100hp gains, and even with ecu tweaking and 1st gear lockout (trigger switch disabling the system in 1st gear to allow hook up/launch and place less strain on a static driveline), it was too much. They were having difficulty with the usual tranny stuff, plus they twisted some axle shafts eek . Once they dropped the gain down to 75 HP (retaining ecu & shifter mods), there were no problems; even with journalists hammering it on the track!

Good luck with the NOS. Be sure it's what you want; do your home work and fully understand N20 and how it works & what it's capable of. F&F was good advertising, but there are other brands too - NX, ZEX and of course my personal favorite: VCN2000 Computerized System

Also, Venom now has the VCN1000 Basic System which operates similar the NOS/NX/ZEX but has some of the safegards the VCN2000 system has.

You could possibly get a wide open throttle switch and mount it to disengage the system when the shifter is in 1st. It wouldn't be too hard I wouldn't think. The switchs I have seen have two ways of wiring them. they allow the current to go through when open or they cut it off when the switch is open. Not sure if that makes any sense.

Where did he say all he was doing was a fuel pump? If I read right, he asks:

The answer for his question is yes, he should, but it is not 100% neccessary.

Who told you can't run a 100 shot anyways? You have first hand experience with this?

Love it when people think they know something, but know zero.

Sharkey, listen to Mark. He at least gives you an example to follow. I know for a fact you can run around 100 (depends on your mix of pills on the system) without anything more than a Chip and intake. Granted the chip was made for N20 applications.

So keep asking questions, or better yet search. If you are unsure about the answers you are getting, or you keep getting one liner answers, ask again....
