I was fortunate enough to have a friend who worked for dodge in the (for lack of a better term, at the moment) after R&D, pre-sales dept. He got to drive one of the magnum's around MI for a couple days in the snow. It was a beautifully performing car...almost. All things were great until he attempted to get off the e-way...the poor magnum couldn't make it up the incline!!! Aside from that I've never heard of or seen anyone else have any sorts of complaints about them. I'd buy one myself if I wasn't such a ford fan....

Wow, I never thought I'd say that a Volvo was too flashy.

All very nice cars to have, and the price is exactly around 26K or less.

All interesting choices. I believe that the 9-2x has the 2.5 turbo as well. If this ends up being my wife's wheels a V6 Rav4 might be the way to go.

Audi A4. Kind of on the expensive side, though.

Drove an MS6 today.

Pros:
Quick and torquey - Felt as if all 270+ hp, 280 ft lbs were present
Sleeper - especially in dark colors
Felt nice and solid (3600 lbs)
Relaxed and knowledgable sales person who didn't act as if he was going to be deported if he didn't make the sale today.

Cons:
Leather and moonroof puts me out my price range (not must haves)
Notchy gearbox (again, not a deal breaker)
140 treadwear rating on the tires!
Non folding rear seats
Felt everyone of those 3600 lbs in the corners
Engine note too subdued for a car with sporting pretenions (turbo?)

Didn't buy, but might come back for another look.

Exactly, its hard to find one that would meet my mileage and price criteria. Plus, the older and lazier I get, the more I appreciate low end torque.

You can fold the seats down, it just involves some work (ie. installing the release clips off of a normal 6.

I have a 05 92X. The interior/exterior is much nicer than a similarly equipped WRX. The good thing is if you want to mod the car, there are tons of cheap mods that can meet all your requirements. But the sleeper image is so much better than the common ricer image that WRX gives. 06 has the larger 2.5 turbo engine, which greatly improved torque at lower rpm. I test drove a 06 and love it.

However, in the 92x forum people were talking about the new Toyota RAV 4 V6. It uses the same 3.5 V6 found in the top of line Avalon. The car itself is lighter, with AWD, and made in Japan. It has 268 NA HP, very easy to get fast.

07 Toyota Camry uses the same engine. The only drawback is the family image but I will not hesitate to get one if I am going to give up my 92X.

07 Mazda CX7 uses the same engine and AWD like the Mazdaspeed 6. The engine is slightly detuned but maximize the low end torque. Maybe some lesson Mazda learned from the MS6. 6 speed auto seems to be the only choice. Last week the only 5-star new hotel in DC (Oriental Manderin) just received 20 new CX7 delivery. I saw them parked next to my office with all different colors. They look very good, almost like Lexus RX 330, although review says they compete directly with Nissan Mazuno.

So you might want to look at either one. Just like you said, they are all interesting cars.

The CX-7 is aimed at the Murano. The upcoming CX-9 is aimed more at the RX-330.
