As promised, I have updates on my opinion of True Flow filters. They are definitely all that they are talked up to be. This filter is considerably larger (10.5" long by 5.5" wide) than the filter that came with my Injen intake so i'm sure that helped with the added pull when running through the gears. The construction of the filter seems to be very good and on top of that it is probably one of the best filters out there as far as keeping dirt out of your engine goes. On top of all that, they aren't all that expensive either..mine was about $45 online. Here are some pics....

This is on my '05 Mazda 6s by the way.

Is that a foam filter? If so it wont last very long. Go with a K&N filter.

Just my .02

That seems to fit awfully low to the ground, wouldn't water, and road gunk get sucked in and/or deteriorate that filter?

Then I guess my drop in is letting in a sh!t ton of dirt because the side where the air is sucked in gets almost black every 6-8months

Actually....True Flow filters are one of the best filters out there. It is incorrect to say that foam filters will not last long. In fact, this will filter longer and better than any K & N filter out there. If for some reason this filter did become worn out, it has a life time warranty. The thing you should keep in mind is that surface filters such as K & N let a ton of dirt into your engine which is how they claim such great horsepower gains since they are free flowing. When they get dirty they are pretty ineffective. Each time you clean a K & N you are washing away part of the filter....this is not the case with a foam filter (at least not the case with a True Flow). Check out www.trueflow.com to watch some of their comparison videos...

A couple more things I forgot to mention...I got my filter from www.autoanything.com

As for the filter being low to the ground...I was aware of that before I bought the filter. It still has several inches before the bottom of the filter would touch the mud/water shield on the bottom of the car. The only real opening in that wheel well is the front grill now that I put different mesh in there. As for the filter getting wet....this is not a problem at all. It would only be a problem if the filter was completely submerged in water.

Actually I had a foam filter like that and it fell apart. It doesnt have to be a k&n filter but something that isnt foam is alot better!

That is still a pretty vague statement....as you said, you had a filter "like" that which means it wasn't a True Flow but it was a different manufacturer of a foam type filter. If this filter was known to fall apart after a short period of time the company surely wouldn't gaurantee it for life...let alone even still be in business. I would check out some of the information on their website...you'll be pretty amazed. On top of acting as a better filter than K & N's and other various surface filters...True Flow will flow just about as good or even better when dirty.
