Well the Contour has developed a new problem. For about a week, it has randomly revved UP when I press the clutch in to shift. With a restart the problem was fixed. Now its doing it all the time. Everytime I press the clutch in while the car is moving it will rev up slowly to 4000 rpm. When stopped, it doesnt do it, or if it does, it very quickly returns to idle. Its pretty unsafe. The car basicly acts like it has cruise control on at all the times. With no gas it will go 50-60 mph. Downshifting is nearly impossible, it just increases the cars speed! Its also kind of annoying pulling up to a stop light and having people look at me while my car idles at 4,000 rpm.

It didn't have a CEL until tonight, and that just came on during my trip back to school. I wont have access to a scanner until the weekend. Any ideas?
