Trying to get the tensioner off my Zetec. It is held on with two torx 40 bolts. I got the top one out. The bottom won't budge. The torx bolt is now rounded out as well. I'm really stuck here. Does it connect to the bottom of the Alternator bracket? Is that hard to get out?

HELP?

I just did that replacement this morning on my daughters Zetec. This one had two 10mm bolts holding it in. I had to loosten the idler pully to get at one of them & put a wrench on the tensioner pully to get at the other. Overall it was fairly easy with a 10mm gear wrench.

As far as the torx bolt, you might have to get a bolt extractor from Home Depot to remove that thing & replace it with some fresh hardware.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I ended up taking the alternator, alt bracket nad oil filter off. Drilled out the buggered torx and put in some fresh bolts. What a job.
