OP Savorino CEG\'er S Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 55 S.E. Michigan	I have a clunk coming out of the rear suspension when I back up. Its like a bad ball joint would be on the front. looked at all rear bushings and checked for play, seamed ok. any idea what it could be? sav 98 Mercury Mystique LS

Figols CEG\'er F Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 285 Albany area, NY	Broken coil springs are common also. The back ones tend to break low to the bottom. You may need to jack the car up to actually see where it would be broken. While it's jacked, check for play in the strut mount bushing. Parting out 95-97 Contours/Mystiques. OP Savorino CEG\'er S Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 55 S.E. Michigan	Thank you for your responses. The sway bar mounts seamed to check out ok, I grabbed the struts and yanked them and came up with no play? I'll look for broken coils. It seams to happen when the brakes are applied when backing up!? thanks Sav 98 Mercury Mystique LS
