Those of you that have added boost to your SVT .. how much boost and what did you do about your compression ratio ... 10.25 to 1 is high if you add boost according to most folks I've spoken with ...

Otherwise, I am Thinking of upping my CR to 11.5 or so and staying N/A ... problems with octane my main concern . jj

A simple search of the Vortech site would give you the specs of the S/C

I'd suggest doing some research into these subjects!

The current S/C owners have had Zero engine problems to date. It's the damn S/C that keep dying.

Also boost level means squat if you don't know the CFM flow and compressor map. So I might look for advice elsewhere then these folks you spoke with.

Turbo kit will be intercooled BTW

More compression is not a bad idea as long as you have the SVT cams already. Too much CR and you'll quickly surpass even 92-93 octane pump gas.

Re-Search!!!

Hmmm...I thought the purpose of these boards was to exchange info between members and that looks like what he's doing...researching even more from those that can speak from the experience of boosting their SVTs, other than just spouting facts and figures.

I noticed your link to your car...you're not boosted! Why did you respond?

Here's a hint...I think that's why he posted his question.

actually, I think you can say Dick. dick dick dick. see. or maybe not say DICK but spell DICK. it's those other bad words that can't be used. so, to sum it up, you can say DemonSVT is a DICK and it will be ok.

BTW, the preceeding message was a joke. please dont be a dick and get upset because I wrote dick.

It's obvious he doesn't have any of the necessary information to begin with.

Like the CR of the V6 engines for beginners.

For the record
9.7:1CR standard
10:1CR (98,98.5,99 SVT)
10.25:1CR (00 SVT) - and they have no supercharger kit available!

So I went a little search NAZI (Big deal - I'm due my turn wink ) He should have started there IMO. He's been on the board for 2 years and doesn't even do any leg work himself or even seem to know about any of this??? Yet he's planning to do major modification to his car??? confused

Hey Hooked - What advice did you chime in with?

I atleast let him know about the fact the website has a search feature (BTW - not too mention a Forced Induction forum & 3L forum!) he could use to gather more information.
I also let him know that longer duration cams would take to higher CR better.

And don't tell me you didn't just pop in for my benefit! (ahem first real post in 7 months - August)
Gee thanks for the special attention but go back and hide under that unturned rock. There's a reason it's been left unturned BTW... eek :p

I push 9 psi of boost out of my Vortech.

I am running 10.1:1 like DemonSVT said. Yes that is pretty high and especially for how much boost i am pulling. Having such high compression sucks due to each time I get my Contour under boost the engine temps sky rocket.

What I do about this is when I am out racing street/track I just let the car cool off for a good 30+ minutes. Unless you are running an intercooler/aftercooler this is pretty much a must to run consistant boost numbers.

For example I went to the track and ran a 99 MPH pass right when I got there. Well I had let the Contour cool down for a good 45 minutes and went back at it and pulled a 101 MPH.

Turbo kit will be more consistant, but I don't think anyone knows how reliable this kit is going to be. I am sure it will be a bit more than this Vortech. Remember when you do run your car under boost you pretty much are going to be constantly tuning the car. One day the car can run great, the next it feels like a pig. Good luck and yes research is highly recommended like Greg (DemonSVT) said. Email me at PhatSVT@aol.com if needing some more info.
