I have a 98 se where the dome light i near the front windshield. I just bought a wrecked 99 se and the dome light is right above the driver and passenger seat. i wanted to know how many had that option??? I am going to do the interior swap gray to tan. But any way every tour i have seen the dome/map lights where near the windsheild. Thank in advance.

Mine is above the drivers/passenger seat. That's odd, because every tour I've seen has them in the same place as mine.

pre 98 have the dome light at the front of the roof, mystiques got the rear dome light
for the 98+ cars if you don't have a factory sunroof you got the light in the center of the roof, with a sunroof it is at the front like the pre-98s

Could the headliners differ to region? Because like I said I have seen the light near the windshield on all of the tours around me with and with out the moonroof. Im gonna spice things up a little with this tho. I am gonna install the tan headliner (which has the center dome light) and install the front domelight thats in my headliner. Thanks for the info I will have to pass that around up here.

if you have a Mystique then you would know that you have a dome light at the front and rear of the roof, ie the Mystique has the rear dome light .... and I did say that pre 98 had them in the front, was trying to indicate that the Mystique has a light in the rear also ...

Ah. The way I read your reply, it seemed the Contours had the light up front and Mystiques only had the rear light, not BOTH. Hence my reply.

IIRC, it's more rare to NOT have the dome/map light combo above the front seats near the windsheld.
Apparanly only the most basic 98+ had the single light in the middle of the roof with no map lights.

I haven't yet seen a 98 or 98.5 with the middle dome light. I didn't think they were created until 99+.
I thought all 99+ that didn't have a sunroof had the middle dome light instead (in response to customer complaints that the light didn't light the rear seats) ?????
