I have a whine similar to what you're describing.. couple of things going on, let me know if you have these:

1) slight decrease of power as the whine gets louder in higher RPMs (eg. if you're going 50 and drop it to 4th and punch it, it doesn't have the same pull it used to).

2) no cell

3) happens when the clutch is in and out

4) mines definitely not moose (it's moosed twice in really cold weather, this is more like a whirrr, and not near as loud)

not trying to hijack your thread just seeing if you have the same symptoms

1) i don't have any other SVTC to compare to, and i've only had this one for 2 weeks, but it doesn't seem to lose power at higher RPM. like i said though, dont' know if you can trust that :-)

2) no cell? i'm not quite sure what that means...

3) yes, happens whether clutch is in or out, and whether the car is stationary or moving

4) yeah, i don't think this is the moose, it just doesn't seem to fit the description all that well, but like i said, my first Contour, so....yeah.

anyway, thanks for the reply, were you able to hear the whining i'm talking about in the video?
