I replaced the serpentine belt and tensioner today, still whining. i also noticed that the whining can def be heard above 1.5 - 2K if i'm coasting. i had the shop test out the alternator and they said it seems to be ok, no play, no drop in output. If i took a sound clip of the whining and posted it, would that help? :-)

Yes, it can only help. Some of us have heard alternator whines, radio interference whines and power steering whines.

ok guys and gals, got the video up. I took the sound from the drivers seat, and the passenger footwell, and then revved it to about 3K. you can see how the pitch of the whine changes with the RPMs, anyway, let me know what ya'll think it could be. Thanks!

I couldn't hear the whine . You may have to record it closer to the engine bay (ask someone to rev the engine). Maybe someone else may have heard it on the clip.

hm, i'll see if i can re-record another clip tomorrow that is easier to hear. I dont' know, i guess it's possible what i might be hearing is normal duratec sounds, but in person it just doesn't seem right...anyone else able to pick up the "whine" i'm talking about? i guess at low rpm's it can be categorized as a hum....

i listened to that sound clip and i really doubt it could be that, at idle, it's non existent, or i can't hear the frequency at which it is at. when i can hear it inside, i cannot hear it outside, i'm going to see if i can get my girl to drive by while i listen from the outside. Well anyway, thanks for listening to it :-) any more ideas?
