I know this has to have been covered before, probably a few times. I did do a search, but I got so many returns that I couldn't find the info I wanted within the time I had. If someone could point me to an appropriate thread to answer my question, I'd appreciate it. That way, the same discussion doesn't have to be repeated...
What I want to know is if the Borla exhaust is significantly better then the stock SVT exhaust with resonator replaced with a high-flow muffler. Both are stainless, 2.25" pipe, with dual outlets, right? Where's the advantage?

... likely in the mufflers and the rear split from single pipe to dual split - Borla may be more "Y" shape than stock "T". I'll be replacing my stock mufflers with Magnaflows and possibly fixing the "T" on my stock piping this weekend - hope to get to the dyno soon after that. I've been plateauing after 5500 and I think the stock mufflers are holding me back there - should hopefully increase my 174 HP by a few. I have the Borla, and I love it. Haven't dynoed yet, but my butt dyno noticed a difference. The Borla, I know is all stainless and it also has the million mile warranty. It looks a lot nicer than the stock SVT exhaust. I am happy with mine, sorry if I couldn't answer all your questions?? Here is a link to a pic of the tips on the Borla.http://www.thinkingcapdesign.com/KeithsSVT/

The stock SVT exhaust has 3 weak points.
2" resonator on 2.25" pipe (2 HP) Rear Y split is crush fit (like the Y-pipe) (few HP!) Rear mufflers are simple baffled design (2 HP)
So theoretically fix those weakness and you should make what the aftermarkets do...

One point to make is that his before runs were when his SVT was relatively new and his after runs were performed after a lot of miles were added to the car. Also the runs were done months apart, as seen by the temperatures. Forgot to mention that he did have the resonator removed and a glass pack installed on the before runs. Here is the graph.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm still on the fence as to whether that's worth the $$$ or not, although the bump in low end torque looks good. I'd probably be inclined to replace the y-pipe first anyway...

Not sure about the svt, but My SE has crush bends instead of most aftermarket catbacks mandrell bends. So that should net an hp or two over stock, plus a little more as the mods continue.

Rick,
If the price is really the problem I have a brand new (still in the box from SPMotorsports) that I'm selling for $450 ($300 if you buy the car as well.)
