Having difficulty removing the driver side bolts for the lower control arm. Then I noticed the end of the transmission case is sitting on the sub frame, blocking the bolt(s). I take it this is a bad thing and an obvious symptom of bad engine mounts? A quick inspection of the front and driver side mounts doesn't reveal any torn or otherwise damaged looking mounts. Are these things deceptive looking? Any help on this matter or replacement tips would be greatly appreciated.
That is a transmount that must have broken. It located right under the air intake.

The transmission is indeed blocking the bolts, which makes LCA installation a PITA, but it certainly should not be sitting on the subframe! Like BlackE1 said, the right mount under the intake must be broken.
After getting down low and looking with a light source behind the transmission pump section, I can see about 1/8 inch of gap between the subframe and the transmission. I don't think the mount is broken but is sure must be worn. That gap just seems too small for comfort but strangely, there is no evidence of anything hitting or rubbing. What's the consensus opinion here?
