Ok well I just bought this SVT, and the car is great! But it has primer on the two front doors and the back quarter panels. My question to all you paint men is can I buy say two silver doors off of another contour and match pretty close? And I have been also told that I HAVE to paint the whole car because silver is "impossible" to blend and/or match? I am on a very limited budget so I really dont have the flow to repaint the car. Any help? Anyone paint cars????

You can't be garunteed silver doors from any car will match or look right. If you can get them cheap, get a couple doors that are close, and then repaint the whole car when you get the cash.

thats y i will never own a silver car. my girlfriends mother has a silver G35. after some minor body work the panels just dont seem to match. her fuel door is darker than the rest of the car and passenger side doors are lighter. it is really obvious in most lights. its a shame such a nice car looks so poorly because of the color she chose.

any car you get regardless of color will be hard to match unless the car is brand new and all of a sudden you need say a new door and you get it from the factory, even then you run the risk of a color shading problem. just what was said in the first post, get two doors that are silve and wehn you get the cash, paint the whole thing. Do you know what kinda paint you want to use? and if you choose to keep it silver, it will be easier to go over it withouth the tons of sanding if it was a red or something. not sure if you can do this where you live or if you are capable of doing it (not knocking you, some people just dont know), but you may be able to cut your cost if the paint shop will allow you to all the prep work then bring them the car. Most your cost is the labor for prep. work.

A good paint shop should have no problem matching the silver. I had the front of my car repainted and it matches perfectly, without any blending. I think its hard to match any metallic, but like i said, a good shop should be able to tint it to match just right.
When they did my car, they had about 6 different Silvers with the silver frost paint code. Each one was slightly different so they could find the perfect match.
