OP dfrank_dup1 New CEG\'er D Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 27 San Diego, CA	I am wondering how much extra oil is "overfill" (how much in excess of 6 qt, that is), and what the risk is. I had my oil changed and I believe they shorted me... I get the oil done every 1500-2000, so not the first time it's happened. My local place knows to give me 6 qt, but I wasn't there. I returned very shortly and said to make sure it was full. "Don't want to over fill". Well I've heard that under-filling might be worse, so I made certain they had the level up to the "full" mark on the dipstick. So how much over fill is overfill, and what are the consequences? Is there some faulty info out there about oil capacity? Much obliged, D Frank Black 98 SVT

Some people even run 7 qts () during events like auto-x, etc. Overfilling, technically, would lead to whipping the oil in to a foamy concoction, and would render it.. hmm... useless? Anyway... if you have "only" been getting 6qts, then you aren't near "overfilling" it, at least when compared to what they are afraid of. STOCK specs are 5.8qts, but stock specs and SAFE specs are two different levels in this engine (unfortunately) '99 CSVT - Silver #222/276 In a constant state of blow-off euphoria.
