Been reading and not posting too much. Car has been running well and checking posts for others solutions has worked well when little things came up.

Now for the bad news.

Took the car in for a battery.

After 17 miles since battery change out, after car was sitting about 48 hours, on restart car began to blow transmission fluid. The amount made me think the drain plug fell out. I had been doing the 4 qts of Mobil 1 ATF at each oil change following the recommendation found here.

Looked for transmission vent hose that is normally behind the battery. Found it connected to the cap vent on the battery.

The hose went "pfffffffffffft" as I pulled it off.

How much trouble is the battery shop in???

What kind of damaged could have occurred to the transmission getting battery gases/vapors/ etc into the transmission?

I hope that the CD4e is not damaged from this installers mistake.

Your help is greatly appreciated on this.

Thanks!

I don't think you have much to worry about. The vent is to allow excess presure from the trans to escape. I there was too much preasure, the fluid has to go somewhere. Ususally it blows out a seal. Also can come out of the dip-stick pipe.

Thanks Squarehead

I will check the car for source of leak when I get home tonight. Car is just sitting in the drive now, but I did see as it was getting dark the fluid was dripping from the back of the transmission, near where the dipstick tube is located.

I am reminded of the time when my old man took his Merc Montego with a 351 to a Mr. Lube some years ago. They gave him the go ahead and as we got out of the bay, Inoticed that the engine sounded particularly clockish. We stopped to check oil. It was dry as a bone. The dope heads forgot to fill it with oil. They merely looked a little sheepish after we pointed this out.

I think my dad should have then contacted a lawyer.

Good luck with your trouble.
