Does anyone know the best placement for jackstands. This past year I just parked the car but next year I want to get it in the air. Pics would be helpful for proper front and rear for placement.

Thanks in advance

Jackstands should be used at the stock reinforced location. Why do you want to store your car in the air?

i don't want to have it all the way in the air but enough to get the majorty of the weight off the suspension.

If I am reading correctly I want to put the jackstands at the jacking point for the scissor jack?

From what i have heard is you dont want to leave the suspension unsprung. Try slapping on some steel rims and junkyard tires so you dont have to worry about flat spots on tires. Also a friend told me once that storing a car on a concrete floor isnt a good idea, because of its ability to retain moisture.

A lot of this is more paranoid than anything with modern tires. All I do with my RX-7 is inflate the tires to the max.

If you are prone to mice, I would recommend plugging the exhaust with steel wool and placing mothballs under the hood and around the interior. I used little paper Dixie cups to hold them.

I have had my car in the air on jack stands for 2 winters now. What kind of problems will arise from leaving the suspension unsprung?

I talked to a friend at work to see what he had to say about it, he said that the struts and/or shocks are not meant to be fully extended for long peroids of time. I suppose since the suspension geometry changes when the cars in the air, maybe sits on some bushings different. I dont know the more I hear about this the more I think its a myth. But I guess if you go to a warehouse where the store high end cars, they're all sitting on the ground.
