Sup yall thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

About a month ago I noticed that my hood was starting to crack. In a months time it has spread a couple more inches. Then the other day after I finished cleaning my engine bay I shut the hood and off shoots a little chunk of paint.

1. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to stop this from spreading even more?

2. Is there any kind of temporary fix for these kinds of cracks?

3. I need a temporary fix for now because my time here in Alaska is up in a year and I do not feel like paying $600 (actual quote) for Billy the supposed painting man of Fairbanks Alaska to do it.

4. Just say Screw it and by a carbon fiber hood?

Here are some pics.

a close up

Time to whore the winter tires

I would buy a carbon fiber one, your car is black so it wont stick out to much,If you look on e-bay you can find them for a little cheaper than $600.You an also check out cf1.com they have them although some ppl on here have been complaining about the service.

For a temporary fix you can put some clear nail polish over it,that will prevent it from chipping anymore and prevent rust for the time being.

or you can save your money and just get the hood respray'd, sounds like someone didnt prime it enough, and not enough coats.

It looks like somone has repainted your hood at some point and done a bad job. I can see lots of orange peel and not factory orange peel. It looks like they didn't mix the paint right.
If you have some place warm enough (60 degrees plus) i would sand the hood down to the primer and repaint with some touch up paint for now. If you do it right it would be hard to tell that it has been repainted with crappy paint. If you use rattle cans let them sit in warm water for about 30 mins before you start to paint and that will help with the orange peel. You should be able to get all the stuff you would need for about 10$ or so.
