i searched and could find any posts similar to my issue if there is one can someone please direct me to it?

Ok i bought a 97 ford contour gl 2.0 back in October for 2,000 dollars it had just under 50,000 miles on it. A month after having it the timing chain popped ( i know i should have had that checked when i first got it) I paid to get that fixed and my car was running fine for about 3 weeks. I started noticing an oil leak shortly after 3 weeks, and it wasnt like a "drip drip drip" There was a stream of oil like when somebody pours out their coffe. So i would have to add about half a quart of oil to the engine every 2 days or so. (I was trying to move into a house so i didnt have much money for repairs to my car).I Noticed that there was oil on top of the engine but i couldnt figure out where it was coming from for the life of me.

So fast forward about 2 months, besides the oil leak my car was running fine. I go to walmart, come back out crank up my car and pull out of the parking lot, car drivig just fine. i turn into the turning lane and my car idles down real low and then dies. I pop the hood and notice oil on top of the engine again so i look to see if oil has gotten into the sparkplugs, 3 sparkplugs were dry, the lasr sparkplug on the left had oil inside of it, just a little but. I also noticed that the front left screw of the engine cover( thats what u call it right?) was up. How it got that was i have no idea and i NEVER noticed that before.
I can crank the car up just fine, but when i try to put it in gear it idles down real low and shuts off.

So im guessing that the oil leak came from the people who repaired my car no replacing my valve cover gaskets/seals (im not very car savvy when it comes to engines and stuff just audio syatems). What would make oil appear on the top of an engine, and what does oil in ONE sparkplug mean. and could all this be fixed by replacing the valve cover gasket(s) and tightening the engine cover?

Was the engine cover being loose the cause of the leak?

Basically what do u guys think the problem is and what reccomendations do u have for getting it fixed?

Probably Valve cover gasket. Just had this fixed on mine. Had oil in all four cylinders. Primarly cylinder 1 that caused a misfire and a CEL. It's only about 10 bucks for a gasket.

Not sure about pressure loss though.

i'm HOPING that the pressure loss is due to the engine cover being loose.
