Well, as we all know, getting a cold air setup on our SVT Contours is not the easiest of tasks. I've done my searching and learning, and have made a few Cold Air set-ups on past vehicles. My question is, does anyone have a good type of hose that would work good for a cold air setup. I know about PVC, but have heard some negative things, and the dryer hose idea is too ghetto for me, is there anything else worthwhile out there to try? Something that's flexible, while being smooth on the inside, I just can't think of anything. Anyone out there got any good suggestions or have tried anything that works good? Thanks!

this maybe a place to start looking...menards or home depot, whatever, go to the plumbing section and they may have 2" or 3" clear vinyl hose...maybe this isn't what you had in mind but the inside of the hose is smooth and that is probably one of the key ingredients you are searching for.....let me know if you try it or not...good luck

Shop vac hose is 2 1/2" ID, plain black, crush resistant, yet pretty flexible. Theres barely room for it in the fenderwell, but if you trim a little under the fender liner you can get a pretty straight run up into the engine bay. Cost about $18 for a 6' section at Lowes/Home Depot. BAT sells a similar setup. Theres a pic in their catalog if your interested.

If your good with a welder or know someone that is you should be able to get the correct dia pipe in aluminum or steel and by piecing it together you can custom fit a nice cold air intake. A good source for the aluminum is irrigation pipe and for the steel is exhaust pipe. You will probably need to enlarge the hole in the inside of the fender to fit the pipe but it is doable. Depends on how large dia of pipe you want to use.

Does anyone know what's inside the left fender where the air is drawn in? I mean is it a tube of some sort drawing air into the filter? Anyone....

The fenderwell is basically just a semi-open cavity area within the fender. No tubes or anything. On regular tours there is an "intake resonator" inside this cavity that is coupled to the airbox. It basically tones down (ie restricts) breathing noises. I think SVTs eliminate this, but if you want more external air, you need to add some additional hoses/pipes to get air from the front or bottom of the car and route it up and through the fenderwell opening. Remove the front wheel and a couple of the fenderliner bolts and take a look.
