OP GrandMasterKhan CEG\'er G Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 127	I have an intermittant no start condition for several months now. It will only happen if the car has been sitting for 10+ hours. The engine will turn but it will not start. There is no spark. I have to roll start the car to start it. Once the car fires I can immediatly turn it off and it will fire right back up. I have tried changing the coil pack with no effect. I have changed the Camshaft position sensor with no effect. The coil pack ground is tight. The battery is good. I recently replaced the coilpack thinking that was the problem. I am at a loss as to what could be causing this. I really dont want to have to take it to the dealer (they'll likely [censored] to no end about 'aftermarket parts' causing the problem) What am I missing here? In addition, check wiring from battery to ground and battery to alternator, and the wiring at the starter. I once had a 99 Contour, just died while driving, wouldnt restart, was the complaint. Okay had no spark, okay, lets see does it have fuel, nope no fuel. Okay then how about pulse, nope no pulse either, things getting a new cam sensor.

If it goes south, the usual symptom is hard starts, bucking, and sever misfires. If, OTOH, the CRANK sensor goes, you loose spark. You also will only have the fuel pump running during the initial 1-2 second priming cycle. The pump will not be turned on while cranking other than this since the PCM is not gtting the PIP signal. Your description mostly matches a crank, not a cam sensor failure. OoTLink CEG\'er O Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 81	You know I have the exact opposite problem with our car, it WILL start if you leave it sit for 10+ hours, but if you use it and then turn it off, you won't be able to get it to start without a fight unless you wait that long! I'm gonna clean the IAC valve up first but think I should check the crank sensor too? (I'd do the EEC IV diagnostic but writing codes from that is a pain in the butt) sigh 1995 Mercury Mystique 2.0 (125hp of FURY!) 2006 Chrysler 300C 5.7
