so to confirm blockage of screen i added 3/4 fuel & HEET ! primed the system 5 times and engaged the starter !!

upon reving the motor with the throttle-plate i could see the mechanism for the secondaries move & immediately the Motor would start that MOOSING sound !! only after making another adjustment to the RPM did it go away .

so guess i have to clean out the IAC or EGR or MAF ???
the sound is originating from the intake snorkal , while i'm doing maintenance would i notice a HP increase on a stock intake air-filter & housing assembly if i removed this snorkal peice ??

thanks again CEG'ers !!!

thanks Tony , that is a very descriptive link !

i might wait till the temps warm up & then do a full address of all related components since i don't have a TH & can kill the moose right away .

my real dilemma is do i remove my WORKING stock FP & discard the disc or is it most prudent to upgrade to the FSVT FP so that i never have this situation again ??

If that is your dilemma, then I would suggest a combination of both:

Wait until your screen is full/dirty, THEN remove it, and (if you have the money, or time) purchase an SVTF pump. Removal of the sock filter is usually enough. The internal screen is more than enough to filter the gas, and works fine in that state.
