I don't know if this is the proper forum or "shelf" is the proper name. The "shelf" behind the rear seat needs to be removed in order to clean it. It looks as if it would push up from the trunk next to the seat first then slide foward after disconnecting the wiring for the center brake light.
Enlighted me please.

Put your backseats down and crawl into your trunk headfirst onto your back. Look up and you should be able to figure out how to "unsnap" it and slide it out towards the front. It's not hard. Getting it back in can be a bit of a pain trying to line every clip and hole up.

Thanks - GTO - but you said "back seat(s)" plural. Mine or not the 60/40 split I've heard about. Does the single seat back fold down? It doesn't feel like it will. Maybe I'm not pulling hard enough. What gives.

You can remove it. It is held in with some torx bolts, #45 I believe.

If the seats do not fold down(like mine), you can:

A) Lift up on the backseat until it unhooks itself from the frame. But if you do this its very hard to put back in and it doesn't fold down all the way. Or...

B) Remove backseat cushion (the part you sit on) by lifting it up until its loose and can take out of car (and find spare change.) And then remove the torx bolts (not sure about number but #45 sound right) and lift up on seat. This is much easier but just make sure you don't loose the screws. Or...

C) Forget about the rear seats and go through the trunk. Recomended if seats don't fold down.

Hope this helps.
