Hi. I bought a 1997 Contour about 9 months ago and just now put a new a battery in it and wanted to start fixing it up. It's got cosmetic issues. Anyway, I cannot start it. The battery is new, and cables tight. It just rotates and rotates but wont't start. I could swear it isn't getting fuel. I noticed a light under the steering wheel which I now know goes to a Clifford alarm. It appears to be armed. I am thinking it has blocked the fuel pump. I tried the Clifford website, no contact info listed to ask for help. Does anyone know how I can remove this thing? I can't even move the car from the side of my house to the garage for work. I just want to know if I remove any wires going to the fuel pump if that is all I need to do? Is there an inhibitor for spark? Does anyone know where the Clifford model number is listed in my car?
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

I highly doubt that they cut the fuel pump wire as its pointless!!!!

If its cranking then the alarm isn't armed and thats not your problem

Do you hear the fuel pump prime the fuel rail for about 2 seconds when you turn thre key to the run position?
What engine and trans do you have?
If my Clifford alarm light was steady, not flashing it meant it was in valet/service mode and not alarmed. When it flashes it's armed. What state is yours in?

I have a 4 cylinder DOHC. That's about all I know right now.
I haven't done a tune up or anything yet.

No, I didn't hear the fuel rail or pump before trying to start. The light is steady, not flashing. The car had no battery for months so I thought maybe the alarm reset. I'll check the fuel pressure and see if it's getting fuel. Thanks.

alarms don't reset per say, they retain all of the info set into them for a long time, Like i have let one sit in my tool box for over 7 months hooked up it and it was still programmed to what i set it before it was taken out.

Honestly i would look else where other than the alarm cuasing the fuel pump to not turn on

To the left of the dead pedal is a fuel pump cutoff switch that is designed to trip if the car is involved in an accident, IIRC. Check to see if it has been for any reason, if you can't hear the fuel pump prime as others have indicated.
