i did a search and found somethings on my problem be none where the same . i know the problems with the waterpumps on these cars.the car is a 1995 2.5 atx. the car was running fine pulled up at home and found that my car was on the L most of the time it never goes above the M so i pop the hood and found antifreez was pouring out of the overflow tank from the place where the cap goes on . so first thing i do is change the t-stat. refill with antifreez then start the car let it warm up and no heat at all so i take it down the road and by the time i get to the end of the driveway the car is on the l so i backup and cut the car off and pop the hood and it is overflowing again.the fans work fine .so is it the waterpump or do i need to flush the system.
i wish you would not have said that. im the kind of person that is a do it yourselfer.so with that said i also have never done anything to my wifes 2.5 so will it be a hard job to do.or should i just take it to the shop.and if i took it to the shop what price am i looking at. thanks
The waterpump will solve that problem. Been there! Metal or white plastic impeller is good. You will find the pieces of the old black impeller inside the housing, find them all while you are in there. Also, change the engine oil if it smells burnt.
took the car to the shop saturday morn and thay said it would be about 345.00 and it will be ready today . i also asked them to put a metel pump in that cost a little more so that is why it is 345.00. thanks for everyones help. when i get the car back i will post and tell you what i think about it.
car is running great the shop said that the belt was worn so the pump was slipping and it caused the pump to fail.so thay put in a metel one and changed the belt and tensioner.thanks for the help guys
