So many of you have probably read my post about a month ago on a broken plug. The plug broke off flush with they cylinder head. Donâ??t ask how iv told the story 100,00 times I was just stupid. Well I used an easy out and got the plug out. Right after I got the threads out. The porcline inside the plug fell out on top the top of the piston. Now I said to my self â??please pleas please DONâ??T MOVEâ? well you all know our motor is a V and sure enough ii slide down. Father and I tired getting the piece with all kinds of wire and gizmos. However thereâ??s nothing that will go down the hole in the head and make the turn inside the cylinder. We tried at TDC and when the piston was at its low point on the stroke. We developed some sort of vacuum thing that will let air in and also remove air at the same time. I am looking for some new ideas. If my vacuum thingy doesnâ??t work I will have to remove the head.
It is hole number 6 So its on the front bank

If there is any matel an the plug, maybe a small magnet attatched to a string? SOmething like that would only work if it has any metal left. Don't know otherwise. Scott

Fill the cylinder with mercury and float it up, then suck out the mercury. Then poison everyone within a five-mile radius when you start the car and burn off the residue
Actually might work, but of course you'd be a moron if you did it - don't even think about it.
Something that might work: jack the front of the car WAY up, so it rolls back, and then pull it out at TDC. Be careful if you try: it'll need to go very, very high. One more thing: maybe you can get something in the intake valve to push/pull it around?
However, I think I'd take the head off. I haven't done it, but I'm assuming you can get the valve cover and head off the front bank while it's in the car without too much trouble. I'd be afraid of the ceramic having chipped and leaving a little piece in there. You'll run the risk of scored cylinder walls or even broken valves if you have anything hard in there: better safe than sorry!
Disclaimer: I'm not an engine pro. I have NOT had the heads off a Duratec, so there might be something tricky about it I don't know about. Paging Greg, Tom, Rick...

I think a poweful shop vac with a small flexible hose (like regular vacuum hose) attached and sealed with duct tape should be able to pull it up. If the piece(s) are too big to pass through the hose the vaccum should hold them until you pull the hose back out of the hole.

I'd rotate the engine slowly until the intake valves were open. I'd then pull off the UIM/LIM. I'd then use some high pressure and blow air into the cylinder via the spark plug hole, and watch what came out the intake tracts.
You could also take some tack cloth, put on the end of a straightened hanger, and put that down into the spark plug hole and maneuver that around and see what sticks to it.
And like previously stated, a magnet part finder (I got one from AZ for like $3) into the hole as well to get any metal debris.

Get a long q-tip or stick and put some sticky stuff on it. Then push it on the part that you want to extract. Let it set there for 20-30 seconds before you pull it out.

try this..get a peice of wire something stiff that will hold its shape. Then go get some crisco baking shorting put a small loop at the end of the wire. Then fill the loop with the crisco. Then take a blow gun blow it in the cylinder so you can get the peice to fall to the bottom of the cylinder. Then carefully fish the wire in the hole and head for the bottom of the cylinder with any luck you will get the peice to stick to the wire. I no it sounds crazy but it will work. I once used this trick to fish a washer out of a Turboprop engine on a merlin 2B. Good luck

I would say pulling the head with the engine in the car woudl be a PITA. I pulled the bank 1 head with the engine out of the car and there is no way I would even attemp it with the engine in the car, even bank 2 head. Having to deal with the engine front cover, timing chains, Cam shafts, timing...
I would agree with the shop vac with a small tube idea.
