I posted this in the problems area, but I thought I might have better luck in here.
I recently had my resonator cut out and am pleased with the sound, or so I thought. When inside the car it sounds great but to hear it from outside it sounds like an old pickup truck that needs new mufflers. It is that very rattly raspy I need new mufflers because these are all rusted out sound. If this is the way it is supposed to be then ok I'll get a new exhaust but if it is just that the weld is bad or something it would be a lot cheaper to get fixed than a whole new exhaust. Any help or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My car sounded just like that. Finally I got tired of it, and went to the local muffler shop and had them put a high-flow resonator on. It sounds just like it did except without the rasp.

Hmm...mine sounds just fine, especially at idle. It rasps when it's cold, but what doesn't. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it rasps when under load...atleast when you're doing some spirited driving. Although, most of the people i've raced say it souds good....I'll replace the exhaust eventually. The stupid mechanic gave me a freaking exhaust leak...or so I think, there's a whistling noise I hear when I get around 3-4krpm.

Yeah mine rasps real bad with no resonater and the sho shop y pipe. I plan on putting in a high flow resonater and chopping the rear mufflers using a straight pipe running to stock tips.

I cut the resonator and put on flowmaster mufflers. Personally, I like the sound, and it is raspy at high rpms when it's cold, but it gives it a nice idle rumble, which I really like, and it sounds very nice over 5000 rpms.

99 Silver SVT with:
lowered-eibach springs, piaa fog lights in upper mesh grill, K&N filter, tinted, flowmaster mufflers, straight-piped cat(temporarily w/ca. for emissions), custom spoiler
