the problem is "glass pack" has a cheapness assocaited with it, but MANY mufflers still use some type of fiberglass packing...it can blow out too, but all these people start pointing rice fingers.... when a glasspack is mentioned.

Absolutely no reason for this type of post.

Please read the Forum Rules. Consider this a slap on the wrist for a noob.

Just FYI im 18, and i decided to save up my money and put it towards actual mods instead of going the easy way out.

Like i said, do it right, or dont do it at all.

Well while you apply your knowledge and not "take the easy way out"

we'll pass you up.

Seriously though don't get so caught up in the "right" way. You'll spend WAY too much money and never get all the enjoyment out of it. The SVT won't appreciate.

If you don't want to do something someone else has done...fine, but don't knock others for doing it.

For crying out loud we drive Contours!!! (don't get me wrong I love mine) but to many it would not be "the right way" either.

The right way is what works. If a glasspack, etc. offers a good sound and comparable performance as an "actual exhaust system", then the only real difference is that the person with the glasspack has more money left to spend on other go fast parts.

I think age is completely irrelevent in this case. I think that it doesnt matter the age it matters how smart the person is and if he/she would like to save up for a proper mod.

Being 17, I can state that I am saving up for proper mods and not going for the cheapest way out. Personally I beleive in "you get what you pay for"

However I am surprised to actually hear of many younger people on here, I thouhgt I was the only 17 year old or close to it on this site.

Damnit! Thats what the problem is.

I do have something serious for this post. Do you guys really get rasp when you've gone resonator-less on an otherwise stock SVT exhaust? (manifolds w/ precats, stock ypipe, main cat, dual svt mufflers) Mine, resonator-less, just got slightly louder than with the resonator, and has a touch of rasp when its very cold, but as soon as its warm enough to get on it, its a very smooth exhaust note, windows up/down, doesn't matter. Now my last car with headers and a dump before the mufflers, that was the definition of raspy! Easily would set off car alarms with a gentle rev. (There really was no such thing as a gentle rev, but whatever.)

My thoughts are maybe my 136k precats are a little clogged up, main cat too, and this is cause; both hindered exhaust flow, and taming whatever rasp would be there normally. Thoughts?
