Quite a few people have now moved from quasi-duals to true duals, but I still haven't heard anyone say "it made my car feel so much faster!" or "I ran my car at the track and lost 2/10's" or "I dynoed at 180-something horsepower." So whats up? Does the Duratec really benefit from true-duals versus a quality quasi-dual exhaust ala Borla/Bassani/Brullen?

xchang has a b4 and after dyno you can look at. it's in his signature, so if you seach for any post of his, then click on the link he has in his sig, you should be able to view the dyno plots.
For the record I noticed very good gains from the true duals, as has everyone else who has them.

Is there a considerable gain with tru-duals over the ShoShop Y and a Borla/Brullen/Bassani?
I would think the differecne would be negligble.

I think that there is a gain between the two "options" you mentioned. Also the true-duals can be had for less than the SHO Shop Pipe and say the "money-bags" Brullen systems or even the Borla or Bassani! The typical True Duals system will cost you about $700-$750 and get's rid of the main cat. And while your're at it it's easy to "lose" the precats too. Look to pay at LEAST $800 for the other systems and you end up like every other Joe Blow, whereas the true-duals systems I offer let you pick and choose what kind of mufflers you want, moreso than say the other which MAY let you choose a tip style *whoopee-doo* Lets just say that a true-duals equipped car *cough* gr8ride *cough* put the hurting on a 3L SVT up until 3rd gear.

Frank as you said its all subjective with true duals - no dyno data I've seen on this forum proves true duals are better (or even as good) as a well done catback + Y-pipe. XChang makes 175 or so, I think somebody may have hit 180 HP with true duals - I hit 179 with Y pipe and Bassani (all 3 cats in place) and DEMON hit 187 HP with 2 precats in place, custom Y and catback (but he has some other mods). This tells very little though - different cars, days, dynos not same as comparions on same car, same dyno. And even then variables like A/F tuning may confuse results. FWIW SHO shop has claimed that true duals have been compared with Y and catback and found no better. I personally think the difficult of H pipe placement on transverse engine makes true duals less effective than on longitudinal engine layouts. So, true duals MIGHT be better but it is unproven in the SVT application. But still I think a good option if only from a cost standpoint.
