I have just read about the wiring harness extended warranty in the faq's here, and i am so mad... when i had my 95 contour torn apart from april 15th 2004 to april 12th 2005 i noticed that my harness was cracking!, in april i took it to the dealer the 1st owner bought it new from, I told them to put it threw the mill and check everything, the mechanic come to me and said he wanted to show me a few things, so i went with him and he showed me the front brakes, Tires and a/c accumulator, the brakes where badly worn, The Tires had flat spots in them and the a/c accumulator had rusted out. So he got me a estimate and it was gonna cost 250 bucks for brakes, 350 PLUS $1 a once for 134a. for accumulator and tires just needed replacing. and an alignment was 45bucks so i told him to do alignment and check everything else. He aligned it up and said all belts where in excellent shape fluids where good etc... SAID NOTHING ABOUT WIRING HARNESS! and he had to notice it he had to unplug a few things. so i didnt say anything because i didnt have the extra money at the time and they charged me 130 bucks as it was for the inspection! And now i find this out, I AM SO MAD, the 10 years ran out September 25, 2005! i have not talked to them about this YET to see if they might do somthing about this. Who wants to play kill the mechanic?

Did you verify your "original warranty start" date through Ford's OASIS system? The 10 year date is from that date (usually the date of first retail sale), not date manufactured. However, if your 10-year date is September 25, 2005, the dealer isn't obligated to help you.
That said, a cordial discussion of the situation (have a printout of 99M03 with you) might convince them to help you out. Cordial is the key: They need to view you as a potential long-term customer, not just someone who wants work done today.
Sadly, some dealers fight 99M03-related work. As I understand it, it's difficult for even a skilled technician to correctly complete the harness change in the time allowed by Ford. Apparently, labor charges over the allowance are eaten by the dealer (or the technician!), so they avoid doing it.
I had my '95 harness done late last year. As it turns out, I still had time: The car wasn't originally purchased until late 1996 (it was a leftover; the 96's were already out). I was pleasantly surprised: The dealer didn't push back on the work, and replaced all affected harnesses.

I WILL get the harness replaced.
I always have the car service at the same place and they should have said something. Its not like you have to look for it.. my dad spotted it when i opened the hood lol..
Im calling Ford tom marrow.

Okay, well anyway only the Ford dealer can access the Oasis system so you'll have to have them do it. Or you can go to the flatratetech.com website, register there and there's a section for Oasis reports. Give them your VIN and wait for a response. Karl

Thanks for quick response.
These idiots cant even keep there sites up to date..
One site says customer service is open 8am - 11pm one says 8am - 8pm and there computer on the phone says 8am-5pm.. I'm guessing that the one on the phone is correct.
I'll be dawg'on if im gonna pay for this thing, If i was taking the car to a different service center every time then i would not have any right to have it replaced, but it has been taken to the same center since it was purchased, and one(ALL) of the techs should have said something in all the times its been serviced ever 3,000 for the past 6 years (was recalled in 99) but not word one.
I WILL GET SOMTHING FROM THIS. I PROMISE YOU ALL THIS.

I know how you feel since I have a 96GL, and OASIS says my car could be affected by 99M03, but from what I've heard it's not *if* it'll happen, but when it will.
I went to several dealerships and they give me the run around like it seems you've been through, but I'd say fight and throw all your records at them, and attempt to get it done.
I have yet to get it done, but I am keeping a close eye out, and one wire then I will get them to do it.
I'd also like to know how it goes too, so please keep me informed.

HA.. this is gonna get interesting...
But it will be worth the fight.
BTW. you said you where watching for the first wire... some of mine are down to the actual wire the shielding is gone.

Ok, I called my dealer and they said they would be more than happy to do the repair but they needed authorization from ford, and to call the customer service line... i told them i did and they said that i needed to call the deal and she said to call CS back and have them call and tell her it was ok for them to do it, so i called them and they said that because it was over 10 years that they could not do anything about it, i told them the rest of the situation and they again said they could do nothing. How did some of you get yours done? I have read a few that said they got theres done after warranty was up. how? and who did you speak to?

Ok GREAT Update, I just got off phone with CS and they finally said that The Service Managers At the dealer has the authority to authorize the repair for this EVEN IF the 10years is up. So now all i have to do is find a dealer that's willing:) im waiting for a call from the original dealer now. HOPE HOPE!

Oh the run around...
OK, i waited until 3:30pm to call service manager back (he never called me) and he said that he didn't know how to do anything about it being i never mentioned it, I said why didn't one of the who knows how many techs that looked at the car say something and he said that was not part of a service job. and i said so your telling me that a inspection under the hood is not apart of the service job? and he said yes, We do not look for these things unless customers mention them, i said i was never notified and he said i had to be and to call CS AGAIN and ask if and when i received the notice about this. I TOLD HIM AGIAN I NEVER GOT A NOTICE. and that he had all the records and it has never been replaced. he still said same thing.
I called CS and they said the notices would have been sent out sometime in October of 99, but could not tell if i ever got sent one and if i ever did anything about it, I NEVER GOT ONE AND I TOLD THEM SO, I ALSO MENTIONED I have been doing some online research and no one else ever got a notice ether.
I am going to call it a day on this for now but i will go by another dealer and talk to them and show them whats going on..
The all mighty "SERVICE MANAGER" i spoke to at original dealer is the same guy that insulted my car before.
AGAIN i ask PLEASE post exactly how you and who you talked to to get this resolved.. i looked today and the wires are completely BARE on the cooling fan and the battery cable is cracking............
