If yer buddy is out of town and you're in no hurry, you can just let it drain by gravity. Just keep the reservoir filled. Try it if you don't believe me.
Alternatively, you can use a single-person procedure by attaching a hose to the loosened bleeder screw and put the other into a container containing brake fluid keeping the end of the hose under the level of the fluid. Just pump the brakes slowly. Keep the reservoir filled. On the down stroke of the pedal, fluid will flow through from the pedal pressure. When the pedal is slowly released, the hose will draw a small amount of fluid back up the hose. The net result is a pretty good amount of fluid expelled for the small amount drawn back toward the caliper.
