This is a test for thoughs who are the "experts". I bought an 98 CSVT was not running. The owner saind that the car just stop and nothing would happen. I replaced the PCM and Starter (the housing that supports the starter gear was broken)and the car started right up. got a 172/175 code. Folks here gave me some advice but nothing seemed to work. I figured the car is driving good even did a long trip in it.
Well as I was head to Texas From Alabama, the car sputter, and the engine shut off, went to re-start, nothing. Did some side of the road troubleshooting which included checking the fuel filter, finally had to have it towed. Did somemore t/s in the morning and found no fire to the coil from the PCM. One thing I did notice was that the Fuel pump would not shut off. Got the PCM 2 days later installed it car fired right-up and headed home. 30 miles down the road car sputters then dies I try to start it, engine turns but won't fire I try a couple of more times still no luck then bam the start won't turn the motor. I try again the motor is locked-up. Once again I notice that the F/P continues to run when I turn the key to on position. I get home pull the uim and it'svfull of fuel as is the lim. Long way around the barn I know. Any Idea's.
I am now thinlking this is what was wrong with the car and why the started housing was cracked (broken). Just for grins I check voltage from the PCM to the coil, nothing. I'm guess I have a short in the harness. Any Idea's on starting points.
