Hey guys,
I finally have fallen victim to internet fraud it would appear. Shoot, I would have figured it would have happened long before this with all the parts and such I've bought over the years. It would figure that as soon as we get into buying things for the baby that we'd get nailed.
In any case, we bought a crib set from a seller. Ship time was 4-6 weeks since it was being drop shipped direct from the company, etc, etc. Seller had a so-so record but in reviewing the complaints they were all just about slow-ship and everyone that complained was offered a refund or waited for their product. Didn't figure this to be too much of an issue since nobody was actually defrauded.
Fast forward from Dec 15 (purchase date) to now and the last communication I received from the seller was just over 2 weeks ago and stated I would have my product within 1 week. I gave the seller the benefit of the doubt since they had been very communicative to this point and had offered a refund previous to this point. We declined the refund at the time as we wanted the product, not the money.
I have given the seller until today before proceeding with filing a complaint with paypal as that was how it was paid. I also requested and received the seller's phone # from Ebay. In calling it, it went directly to a generic voicemail. The free reverse phone # directories didn't list any addresses or names associated with the number. I will file with paypal by the end of the day, but I'd like some additional suggestions on how to track down the seller's physical address and possibly alternate phone #'s. A search of the city listed in her ebay contact info only comes up with 1 name with the same last name, but different first names. Shoot, I really want the product, not the $ since we need it in order to match up paint colors for the baby's room.
Pending the paypal outcome, I will also plan to file fraud claims with the FBI division IC3 if we don't get at least our payment back.
Thanks, Rick

we will hunt them down like the dogs that they are!
sorry to hear this Rick, I hope you find the fugger, or get your item soon.
I think you need to hurry up with the Ebay claims, i forget what the actual guidlines are, but i know they have a time limit. i got screwed once, the dinkhole didnt ship my item but it was more than 30 days or something and there was nothing ebay or paypal could do.

Ebay is 60 days (past that) and I actually haven't checked to see what paypal is, but most likely I'm probably past that too now that I think about it.

I think you have to file a claim within a month with paypal, but maybe paypal will cut you some slack. After all, their claimed "We'll update you within 5 days of this claim" is pretty much a joke. It took probably a month to get my money back. Try it, tell them why youve waited so long and see what happens.

I just filed and the claim was noted, but it will not go anywhere as their cutoff was 45 days from the transaction date. Unfortunately I pay by using my online funds and not charged to a CC so I can't even go one step further back and contact the CC company.
I have requested additional information such as a physical registered address from paypal to see if I can at least get that. If I can look up their address and most likely get an alternate number, then it will be time for some number bombing if you know what I mean. In retrospect, we're only talking $100 plus shipping, but it's still $100 and the principle of the deal on top of that.

I just got taken for $250 on two cell phones. Paypal wouldn't do anything because the Seller showed proof of shipping the item. What the seller forgot to tell them was that they sent out an empty envelope with a "fake" address! I filed a claim with Ebay. They said that they would refund up to $200 if I didn't file suit against them. Not sure i had that option but whatever. Well thats been well over a month ago and I still don't have my money or even a correspondence.

Yeah, as you realized you are too late to file with PayPal, and as was noted all the seller has to do is provide some sort of proof of shipping and they are off the hook.
Keep trying. Our luck with ebay has been good. Most people are decent. But it is the principle of the thing, not matter how much or little money is involved.
I bought something on ebay 2 years ago. But it now, and paid that day. 2 days later he left feedback thanking me and saying I was a great buyer. Then he stalled and stalled... 2 years later I have no product and no refund. It was only like $10, but still.
Good luck!

Rick, What info do you have on the seller(name, city, state)? I can try and do some digging to possibly find out more info, or some addresses. Let me know.
