I was just pulling my car into the parking lot this evening. I had to turn around to find a spot. i put My SVT in reverse, came to a complete stop, was about to put it in 1st when i heard this high-pitched grinding noise in the tranny and my RPM guage was past redline. I quickly killed the engine. I restarted to pull the car into a spot. followed my trail of unknown liquid back to the spot of the incident. there ly a small puddle of the unknown liquid. I got some on my finger, brought it to the light to see that it was the royal purple tranny fluid i had just put in my car a week ago.
I don't know what just happened. I know my guage is stuck now past redline and that i'm leaking tranny fluid. Did my transmission just die? (i don't think so becuase i had to drive it to another spot) Did I drop my clutch?>???? or did i just [censored] something up when i flushed the tranny last week? Somebody help me please!!!!

Alright, well I just towed the car to a local shop. I'll get back with the turnout.

The tachometer went crazy? Not the speedometer? If so, that defies explanation.

i know. it's all messed up.
Okay, get this. The shop just called and told me that they couldnt find ANYTHING wrong with the car. tach is fine, clutch and tranny are both fine. No explanation as to why tranny fluid spilled out. the transmission fluid level is fine, they didn't add anything. (maybe i over filled it when i did the flush????) could that have caused it to shoot out?
But that still doesnt explain the high pitched grinding noise the clutch made when it happened. I'm so confused.
They told me it's fine and i can drive it. But i just don't trust it. The shop is rather credible though. and do good work. Not to mention, it's and auto shop and if they could have found anything at all wrong with it, they WOULD have. so i don't really know what else to do but trust them.

From Terry Haines: ...in 9 out of 10 blown diffs that blow out of the case you CANT SEE THE HOLE from under the car...it's usually above and to the side of the VSS location....with care.....the only other place oil could dump out of is iff the drivers side drive shaft 'walked' out of the diff(circlip issue!)...

So the car has been running all day long and last night. I guess I'll just accept that its okay. What i think may have happened was that when the access fluid was forced out, it got on the clutch plate causing the clutch to slip like that. as for the tach, i'm still dumbfounded.
So, i'm just gonna be thankful that i don't have to drop $1000 to $2000.

...i would take it to another place just to verify.. if i'm reading into what TH is saying correctly, perhaps when you made that turn to get into your spot perhaps the drive shaft slipped out of the tranny?!?!!?!?
