I started monday. I'm a Loan Officer at a Mortgage Company. Lots to learn, but I love it so far. It's so laid back, everyone I work with is cool. We serve Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Minn, Fla, and colorado, so we have tons of states to pick from. I can't wait to see how my new career progresses...and if anyone on ceg in those states is looking for a mortgage, or a refi, let me know! (CEG discount of course 8))

LOL Good luck,
This is a bad time at least in my area to be getting into that bussiness, everything is slowing down. Had a buddy get into it a year ago and is now out.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Congrats on the new job!! I'm a branch manager of mortgage company and it's definitely an exciting line of work. I'm laughing to myself right now at the comment about it being laid back. When you get a pipeline together, it will be anything but laid back and quite frankly can be extremely stressful. The learning is very large and it will probably take a while before you feel comfortable but you just have to take it seriously and make the effort to learn about the products that are available. If you get the hang of it and you can build a consistent pipeline, I think you'll be happy with the return. Good luck and if you ever have any questions, please feel free to drop me a PM.

Midwest housing market is slow, but there are still a lot of people refinacing. There are the people that still haven't refinanced and are paying 8+ percent interest rate and there are a lot of people who are in ARMs and need to lock in a fixed rate.

BTW, I plan to move this year and will need a new mortgate. I'll contact you when I'm ready. Can you state which company you work for?

Too bad you didn't get in like every person with a pulse 3 years ago. Would have made a mint. LO's usually last about 3 years before they are sick of it.

I love it so far. I started on Monday and have 8 loans in my pipeline, one of which will be closing next week. I work for Greystone Mortgage. It's a great company, everyone is really nice and the two owners have 30+ years in the business combined.
