I loved mine, but it sure was hard on gas. I didn't have too many problems with it either. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't blow his head gaskets.

Any FI vehicle is hard on gas with your foot in it. My XR7 got respectable mileage when driven appropriately.

a SC is just not a car thats meant to be driven appropriately

I remember the head gaskets were the most common problem on them. I think i sold mine right before they went out.

Also, you had to remove ALOT of stuff and I think unbolt the engine and move it to get to the spark plugs....

LOL What? Appropriately = like a sane person. Any car you beat the [censored] out of is going to get bad gas mileage.

The HG were a common failure on ALL Ford 3.8.
As for the plugs, you have to change them from under the car...

I test drove a MINT ORIGINAL 1989 SC right down the road from me...it's still for sale. Only had 67,000 on it!! The onl issue was that the ABS system was acting flaky...could have been a 89$ solenoid, or a complete 1500$ system teardown, and I wasn't about to find out which it was

I was lucky enough to receive my SC when I was in H.S. Still have it. My opinion on the car...in it's class it had performance and technology not seen(for it's time). It was a great time and I have many great memories in it . Looking at it in my garage now, I see a car that can be a 12 sec. car with work and not too much money compared to similarly sized cars. Head gaskets are the biggest concern. If you upgrade in the intake and exhaust area, from what I understand the stock guts will take around 350 HP and this can be attained w/bolt ons. More can be had w/ internal engine mods. Aftermarket part though aren't plentiful therefore aren't inexpensive. Overall, I think it's could easily turn into a money pit .
