I'm pretty sure one of our locals here has one, haven't heard any problems from him. I'm not doubting the potential for a problem, although I admit I didn't realize how 'directly mounted' the shock was, because it obviously is one.

I can speak from experience, that cast aluminum is brittle as hell....don't believe me, check out my post w/ pics Cast Aluminum Sucks!!! Mind you, this piece fell off when I removed the bracket, and I had stock everything concerning mounts and stab-o-shoc. If that piece of the bellhousing can't hold up with that amount of load, I shudder to think how it will react to a solid mount replacement.

Yeah ES mm inserts dont do much at all. They do make shift transiitions a little smoother. Performance Fords has those inserts that everyone is talking about. One has urethane dampers and another is solid and not for street use. They claim that it helps wheel hop. If you are on the street just go for an easy launch. I have tried some mild slip launches around 1500 to 2000 rpm with not a ton of throttle and it chatters a small amount. The lower tire pressure has been reccomended to me also. Be careful with the wheel hop. A piece of the gears in my diff blew right threw the top of the tranny/diff. this broke fairly easy since I immediatly put the clutch in when it started to hop. Lucky it was under warranty. Dont risk blowing your diff bc of a stupid street race against a civic with exhaust. Just do a mild launch and u can still beat thos people that think they have a fast car becasue it has a loud exhaust.

Use the clutch and practice only giving enough gas to get a little noise from the tires. That's the quickest launch you can get, and you shouldn't get any wheel-hop.

It had the same purpose as the stab-o-shoc except that it was solid aluminum with rubber bushings in the ends. I'm sure the rubber bushings absorbed a lot of the shock though. It isn't technically a solid-solid mount though. If the SHO-SHOP actually sells one that has no way to absorb shock (like bushings) then I would agree that something will break on hard take-offs. warmonger

How difficult are the side mounts to do? I am guessing there is the front and then two sides? I am doing this for an automatic, and yes it does help in an atx, Ive done it before.
