Mine just pulled strait off, I guess they lost there adhesivness. After ~20 mins. of pulling off and cleaning both strips, they look good as new. I just tossed the chrome strips away and left the grey piece on. You can even paint it your own color if you want.

Sand the bad areas down from lowest grit to highest until smooth. Shoot the areas with primer(2 coats). Then shoot them with the wheel paint. I'd do 2-3 coats, 24 hours apart. Once they're dry, do a few coats of cleacoat. SHIZZAAAAM, brand new wheel covers. I had to do this with the center caps on my SHO.

That sounds like it should work. Be careful to spray lightly to avoid drips. You should probably do all 4, to make sure they match.

looks pretty clean! man when i first got my car the door panels we're ripped off by my crazy grandpa and he broke the electric window motor!!

i basically restored that poor car, got the windows fixed, etc. all kinds of compliments, all it needed was wash and polish, and...well, screwing stuff back together getting new parts, ect.

enough of my life story.

lol, so if your freaked out about using sandpaper for the headlights, use Rubbing Compound (that can be picked up at local auto parts store) then follow up with polishing compound. worked pretty good for me! use the rubbing compund for about 10 mins, sounds long, but it works!

good luck and welcome!(i love pre98's! )
