OMG. Please stop all posting and search. The gain in power will be negligable. Also where are you going to get pistons for it? If you want gains the 3L is the way to go. You have a POS ATX so you only option is TO GET RID OF IT AND GET AN MTX. You can't sqeeze blood out of a turnip.

accurate engine has pistons for it and i dont have money for a manual yet and personally id rather get a turbo 2.5 than a 3L more high eng power.

And a turbo has to do with what? We'd all like one but most of us don't see the logic of putting a 5k turbo kit on a 5k car. You can't afford an MTX for a few grand but have turbo pipe dreams. Pun intended. So who is going to bore and hone and build this engine for you? You know how much it is going to cost to have this done? As much as buying another running Contour.

NO!!!!!!!!
.030 is a clean up bore. If you get a 1% power increase you would be lucky.
You do the math. Calculate the engine displacement with the .030 overbore and then calculate haw much it increased the displacement over the stock bore. Then determine the % increase in displacement. That would be the maximum increase assuming everything else stayed stock.

About 1.85%. Assuming you did a 0.030 overbore, shaved the heads/thinned the gaskets as much as possible (before something hits inside!) to boost compression, matched rings to cylinders/pistons, and all those other little tweaks that they do to race engines...
Maybe ten horsepower. And I mean maybe, you'd be very lucky to get that. And that kind of engine work would run you several grand (despite parts costs being ~0). So lets say at only $1000 (a smokin' deal!), that's $100/hp: and that's highly optimistic! Now, a 3.0L, on the other hand, would get you ~30-40 hp for not much more money: being very conservative, it's $100 per hp. More likely you'd pay $500/hp for boring, etc., and $50/hp for a 3.0L.
It's just not worth it, eh?
