I've noticed a ticking sound... like the sound you hear when you're lighting a gas stove.. but at a slower tempo... I can usually hear it after my car is off and I am walking into my house... I thought it was just the car "settling" or what have you, but today I heard it when I was at an ATM machine and the car was on... hmm?

I belive the sound you are referring to is the metal contracting as it cools. It's quite possible for that to happen when you stop driving and the car is still on, especially if you've been driving it hard. I guess I could best describe that sound as a "tink...tink...tink", occuring every few seconds: is that what you mean? If so, it's not a problem.

Yup, metal on metal. Did you have some exhaust work done recently? Could be radiator too.
